About This Poem 💫

I’ve been struggling with chronic insomnia for years, and this isn’t my first poem that I’ve written about it. Whenever I can’t sleep, I toss and turn all night as I struggle to get some sleep. I’ve tried herbal teas and hot baths, but nothing helps, which makes me more frustrated and even more exhausted. My mind is filled with thoughts and worries that stop me from relaxing at night. If anyone has a remedy that works, please share it in the comments below ↓

Thanks for reading! ♡

    Hi Sereneluna,

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re struggling with chronic insomnia. It sounds incredibly frustrating, and I can only imagine how exhausting it must be to deal with those restless nights.

I’ve had my fair share of restless nights too, and I understand how a racing mind can make it hard to relax. Have you tried any guided meditations or mindfulness apps? They can sometimes help quiet those racing thoughts.

If you find anything that works for you, please do share!

    Take care!

I was in university when I wrote this poem. It was during my “studying for exams” era. I still struggle with insomnia though. Most nights I don’t fall asleep until 2 or 3am in the morning.

I tried guided mediations a couple of times, but each time I fall asleep with my earbuds still in my ears and end up draining my phone battery. It is almost too effective for helping me fall sleep, and I often forget to turn off my phone! I have the same problem with podcasts. I end up falling asleep with the earbuds still in my ears and forget to turn off my phone lol

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

Oh. I understand. I hope your insomnia goes away. I read that pistachios have a lot of melatonin. Maybe try eating a handful before bed? I’ve never tried that though as I sometimes struggle with insomnia, but in the “I’ll wake up randomly at 1 or 2 am and be unable to go back to sleep” kind of insomnia.

What an amazing poem!! It definitely paints the picture of what insomnia must feel like, and for that, I’m truly sorry that you have to go through it! I hope you find a remedy that works eventually! 🙏🏼💕

Thank you so much! I wrote it while I was in nursing school, but I still struggle with insomnia. Most nights I’m up until 3:00am because I don’t feel tired. I try not to take melatonin but might have to start taking it again.
