May Goals | Spring 2023

Okay, I know what you’re thinking – I’m so late getting around to this monthly goals blog post for May 2023. You’re right, I am late but let me explain. Last weekend, I was working from Friday to Sunday, so I was M.I.A. It was also my seven-year (marriage) anniversary. At least we had cake, but everything was so rushed that I didn’t get a chance to enjoy it. I wish I could say that May has been a piece of cake so far, but that’s not the case at all!

For those of you who have been following me on Twitter, I will continue to add updates of my progress, such as completing a challenging workout or achieving another Duolingo lesson. Additionally, I may post small pieces of creative work, like poems, pictures of my cat, and photos of my favorite beverage lol Twitter is where I tend to open up and share my thoughts. I’m Tired and Grumpy. That’s a fact.

May has so far been exhausting, with mundane assignments and monotonous daily duties. My workload is especially demanding this month to the point where I am completely drained and lack the energy to do anything else. Fortunately, I haven’t experienced burnout yet, but tiredness and lack of interest in things are affecting me. I’ve been feeling quite anti-social lately, but I’m still managing to remain organized and productive. My secret? Writing out my monthly goals lol It has given me a sense of direction and purpose in life that I didn’t have before. Though I’m still trying to figure out how to maintain my productivity on a daily basis, the process of setting goals each month has at least given me a sense of accomplishment and control over my life. Yes, I believe this is something to celebrate! Please pass the cake!

Thank you for your kind words! Tbh this helps me stay on track. I find that apps with levels keeps me motivated enough to not quit lol I’ve tried everything from notebooks to Posh habit-tracking planners to stickers etc. and nothing else seems to work. Writing these monthly goals blog posts is the only thing that works for me.

My goal trackers look like Swiss cheese right now 🧀 There’s a lot of holes in them lol The only thing I’ve been consistent wish is Duolingo 🇩🇪 I think this is Day 154? It screams at me which is why I’ve kept up with it for this long. If goal teachers aren’t in my face 24/7 I tend to forget. I used to print 30-day challenges and tape them to my wall so I would see them. Then I stopped and I’m not sure why 😔

Thank you very much! I ended up treating myself to some treats this week to make up for the cake that my family ate while I was at work.

I feel like 1/3 of May is taken up by work. These past couple of days I slept a lot and did nothing productive. Writing this blog post was the most productive thing I’ve done on my days off this week.

Hahaha yep, that is one side effect of drinking a lot of water 😅 I try to make sure that there’s a bathroom nearby! I didn’t keep up with drinking a Gallon of water this week and hoping to get back into the habit before the month is over. The headaches are back with vengeance d/t not drinking enough water 😖

It’s always great to have goals to work towards, but this might be my therapy side talking, but it doesn’t seem healthy to have a goal about not calling in and staying healthy. If by chance you do fall ill, you should take take time off to recover. Plus, it helps avoid spreading it to other people if it’s something that can be caught.

How come you’ve decided to drink a gallon of water a day? Almost 4 litres of water a day seems quite excessive. If you’re eating properly, you should only need to drink 1-1.5 litres of water a day on average

I appreciate your POV. We aren’t allowed to go to work if we are symptomatic. I work at a hospital and get sick often and have missed several shifts d/t being sick. In that case I don’t go in. But there have been days where I didn’t go in d/t insomnia, not getting enough sleep, or needing a mental health day. I can’t care for patients if I’m not taking care of myself. I try stay healthy so I don’t get sick, sometimes it’s inevitable and I get sick anyways. Just aiming for less ‘sick days’ overall.

Honestly I’ve only been able to drink 1 Gallon of water one day this month so far. I decided to do this because I was overrating and binging on junk food, and needed to reset my body. Things were just out of control and drinking water stops the binges. I aim to drink more water on days where I’m exercising, but on days I’m not exercising, I probably don’t need a Gallon of water.

Wishing you the best for your personal and health goals this month. I had a fun April and in comparison May has been kind of mundane for me too and I can feel myself getting grumpier lol.

Those sound like good goals! Are you doing low carb? I tried it in the past along with keto (<20 g/day) and was so miserable on low carb that I stopped 🙇‍♀️

It does help to write out a list of monthly goals and reflect on them at the end of the month. Helps keep me on track. Thanks for reading! ✨

Thanks. Basically just trying to decrease refined sugar, like chocolate bars and cake and cookies and stuff like that, but no not keto. Last time I wrote down monthly goals was 2 months ago. Maybe I’ll read them and modify.
