It is indeed surprising how quickly February arrived, leaving me with barely enough time to check in with you all. Even so, I recognize the value in pushing forward with my goals and plans, and so, without hesitation, I have created a similar list for the month of January. My mundane day-to-day life has not changed much, but I remain committed to making sure I stick to my routine and achieve what I need to accomplish.
For those of you who have been following me on Twitter, I will continue to add updates of my progress, such as completing a challenging workout or achieving another Duolingo lesson. Additionally, I may post small pieces of creative work, like poems, pictures of my cat, and photos of my favorite beverage lol Twitter is where I tend to open up and share my thoughts. Different Month, Similar goals.
If you’re curious about the differences between this month and the last, you will find that it is pretty much the same routine (for the most part). Since I will continue to donate to Amref Health Africa, I left it off from my list of objectives for February. It was kind of like paying a phone bill where these things are automatically renewed. A month ago I put it up to send a message to an annoying spammer who kept pestering me on #Twitter. Following up with reporting him and blocking three accounts he had, things are better now. As I have no shifts on the Gen-Med unit this month, I chose not to include it in my goals either.
January Goals 2023
Career Goals:
- Continue to pick up day and evening shifts
- Catch up on emails and work on MLL courses
- Bid on shifts for February as they become available
- Work on the MLL courses. # of completed modules TBD
Personal Goals:
- Publish 1-2 blog posts + monthly goals/recap blog posts
- Publish 1-2 articles on Medium + share articles on blog
- Keep tabs on doctor’s appointments/pending appointments
- Daily Duolingo practice 🇩🇪
Health Goals:
- Treadmill on days I am not working + upload progress on Twitter
- Limit drinks to water, tea, and coffee
- Track steps on Pikmin Bloom app
- Healthy/clean eating 80% of the time

And there you have it! As you can see, my goals are similar to January. Ideally, I am hoping to get fitter so I can wear my pre-pregnancy jeans again. I lost a bit of weight last month but I don’t own a scale. I go by how my clothes fit and my clothes are starting to fit a lot better. During the month of February, I’m keeping my focus on fitness, along with career and personal goals (of course). My goal is to shed some belly fat so that I can wear my jeans by mid-March.
I am curious to know what your goals are for the month of January. Feel free to let me know in the comments section below ↓ Also, I would really appreciate it if you followed me on Twitter (@serene_hilz), that is, if you aren’t already a follower. It is so hard to grow on that platform but I really do enjoy using it to connect with like-minded bloggers.
Thanks for stopping by! ♥

Ps can’t see the cat hairs. Love your trainer. Did you meet your Jan goals? I kinda did and didn’t. I am officially back to blogging in wo.com on the 8th Feb.
Dud you get a discount code fir your wp plan.
I think they run monthly. I googled one and I got one, I renewed earlier than I needed too, but that saving will help to pay for medium if I stay on it.

Thank you, that’s good to know! My sneakers/trainers are Nike Kids. My feet are really small and I can fit into kids shoe sizes and these sneakers are surprisingly comfortable.
Yes, I did end up meeting 90% of my January goals. I recently published another article called January Monthly Recap. I find writing blog posts like these seem to be good for accountability.
That’s awesome that you are getting back into blogging! Please keep me updated and I will check out your blog posts. As for the discount code – yes, the WP discount worked! Instead of paying $120 for the year, I’m paying $63 for the Premium Plan. If you currently use a Premium Plan and you’re interested in getting the discount code, feel free to email me. It only seems to work for current Premium Plan WP users.
As for Medium, I want to get a Medium Subscription but nowhere can I find a place to input a discount code. I checked their site and the mobile app but didn’t see anything.

Yeah there is no place on medium for a discount. But why not use the free trail strategically.
I got a discount on wp.com I paid a bit earlier. But there are discount monthly it seems just have to Google.
Defo will keep in touch with you

I believe the Medium free trial is only good for one month. I think February would be the worst month to try it since it’s the shortest month of the year. And the trial is only good if you use the mobile version. I looked on the desktop computer and didn’t see the trial option there.
For a while there was a medium 1-year subscription for $30 USD if it was gifted by someone but they seem to have gotten rid of it. It might have just been special offer during the holidays.

Okay, maybe hold off on the free trial and use it later on in the year, when it suits you. I still have another 4 days of my trail left. I use medium on desktop to write, and the mobile to view and read. Seeing as you are already MPP you could use it to your advantage, picking a month where you dedicate to Medium, reading, and writing more, just to boost your earnings and following, then stop after the free trial, and it might pay enough to pay for itself, – if I make sense. I think it is really impressive that you made money on the free plan, very impressive.

Good luck with these goals and those you are carrying forward from January. Fitness is great and hope it helps you get to the weight you’re hoping to be.
